Wedding decorations,[/caption] I recently read about something called the “We don’t care about” list. This is a list that a bride and groom, planning their wedding, can make of the details that they’re not hung up about on their big day. Here is why this list is so important. First off, it tells your wedding planner and vendors not to waste time on the upsell with you for those items. Like you’ve said on the list, those details can be bare bones, simple and straightforward. It can also save you a lot of money. If you get the best of the best for every detail at your wedding, you could end up easily spending five to 10 thousand more dollars than if you’d made your “We don’t care about” list. Take it from couples that have already had their big day: there are some details nobody even notices. Here are wedding details that are overrated and overpriced. Signature cocktails

Your guests do not care that you hired one of the best local mixologists to make signature cocktails, inspired by your love story. They may have one of those drinks and say, “Aw. That’s nice.” But beyond that, they’ll just want whiskey on the rocks, vodka sodas, beer, and wine. And you’re paying that mixologist’s high fee for nothing.           [caption id="attachment_711699" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Fancy dishware

The dishware is the last thing your guests are looking at. They’re talking to their tablemates, they’re watching you and your beloved dance your first dance, and they’re trying to decide the best time to get another drink.             [caption id="attachment_703391" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Fancy food

When it comes to the food, your guests care about one thing and one thing only: being fed. If they’re fed with corn dogs and collard greens, great. If they’re fed with kobe beef and truffle mashed potatoes, that sounds delicious, but they’ll scarf it down in 15 minutes and forget about it. And you just spent $70 a plate for no reason.         [caption id="attachment_703932" align="alignleft" width="420"] Shutterstock[/caption]

Hotel room baskets

While putting welcome baskets in your guest’s rooms is a nice thought, keep in mind that most of your guests will spend very little time in their rooms. They’re going to arrive, change, and head to the wedding. So maybe don’t waste your money or the wedding planner’s time on putting together baskets of coconut water, dried fruit and one of those back-massager scraper things.         [caption id="attachment_710484" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Table service

Your guests do not mind walking to the buffet. In fact, they may prefer it, since sitting and waiting for the next course can be frustrating. If you go buffet style, then you don’t need to pay for wait staff that will bring out every little salad and every glass of wine. You can just pay for the staff to set up the buffet and clean up after. [caption id="attachment_697222" align="alignleft" width="468"] Shutterstock.com/Menu[/caption]

Individual menus

Your guests are not going to keep the individual menu cards you printed out—sorry but it’s true. So save money on those, and put one large menu on each table, or even one very large menu at the entrance of the room where you’ll be eating.               [caption id="attachment_705799" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Custom seating cards

This is another item your guests will see and forget about. People just want to know where they’re sitting. They don’t need their seating card to be rhinestone encrusted, or hand-painted with gold paint.             [caption id="attachment_614710" align="alignleft" width="467"] Corbis Images[/caption]

Having the best DJ

After a couple of cocktails, your guests just want to dance. And they don’t care what they dance to. So, if some DJ promises to curate the perfect list for a high fee, he’s scamming you. Feed your guests drinks and crank up any tunes—they’ll be happy.               [caption id="attachment_701815" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Limousines

Your guests won’t even see you arrive at your wedding—they’ll already be seated. And as the bride and groom, you’ll be thinking about too many things to appreciate the limo ride. So just have a friend or Uber drive you to the ceremony.           [caption id="attachment_722436" align="alignleft" width="420"] Instagram[/caption]

Your wedding shoes

Nobody is going to see your shoes, and you’ll probably even end up taking them off. “But I want a really pretty photo of the shoes.” Okay, but are you willing to spend $400 on the shoes for one photo?             [caption id="attachment_687411" align="alignleft" width="378"] Corbis Images[/caption]

A decked out wedding invitation

Once you send out those wedding invitations, they’re out of your life forever. You may hang onto one for your scrapbook, but it’s not like you’re going to look at it every day. Your guests just need to know where to go and when. Obviously, your invitations should have charm, but you don’t need to buy all the upsells.               [caption id="attachment_713130" align="alignleft" width="420"] Image Source: Shutterstock[/caption]

Top shelf alcohol

Again, after your guests have had a drink or two, they won’t notice the little details. They’re just happy the alcohol is free! Do you think they care if you went with top or middle shelf tequila? No way.             [caption id="attachment_622091" align="alignleft" width="464"] Shutterstock[/caption]

Party favors

A little thank you note goes a long way. A bag of Jordan almonds probably goes at the bottom of your guest’s purse, where she forgets about it until her purse is caked in old yogurt.             [caption id="attachment_618825" align="alignleft" width="420"] Corbis Images[/caption]

The cake

Let’s be clear: you want a good cake for your wedding. But let’s also be clear on the fact even bad cake is good cake because it’s cake. Spring for decoration you’re excited about, but don’t worry too much about having the most gourmet ingredients. Most guests only have one or two bites of cake before returning to their cocktails and dancing. The cake is mostly for the pictures.         [caption id="attachment_700735" align="alignleft" width="420"] Shutterstock[/caption]

The bridal party outfits

Do yourself and your bridal party a favor and don’t go too big with their outfits. Groomsmen do not need designer tuxedos and bridesmaids don’t need high-end dresses. You and your spouse should be the ones to stand out! Just ask the groomsmen to wear a suit in the same color—they can choose where they get it—and pick out bridesmaids dresses that cost no more than $100.
